Why attendance percentage matters
Many schools and universities require a minimum attendance — commonly 75% — to sit final exams or pass a course. Falling below the line can mean detentions, a grade penalty, or being barred from the exam entirely.
This calculator does the bookkeeping for you: it shows your current attendance, how many more classes you can afford to miss while staying above your threshold, and — if you've fallen behind — how many you must attend to climb back.
Enter how many classes are left this term to unlock the planning numbers. Leave it blank to simply check where you stand right now.
How to use the attendance calculator

Attendance formulas
Your current attendance is simply the classes you've attended divided by the classes held, times 100.
To find how many of the whole term you can miss at a target T, the maximum total absences are ⌊(Total classes) × (1 − T)⌋ — subtract the classes you've already missed to get what's left.
If you're below the line, the classes you must still attend are ⌈T × (Total classes) − Attended⌉, capped at the number of classes remaining.
Examples
Checking where you stand
Attended 48 of 60 classes? That's 48 ÷ 60 = 80% — comfortably above a 75% requirement.
How many you can miss all term
In a 120-class semester at 75%, you can miss ⌊120 × 0.25⌋ = 30 classes total before dropping below the line.
How many more you can skip now
Attended 42 of 50 (84%) with 20 classes left and a 75% rule: you can miss 12 of 70 total and have missed 8, so you can skip 4 more.
Recovering from a shortage
At 30 of 50 (60%) with 30 classes left and a 75% target, you must attend ⌈0.75 × 80 − 30⌉ = 30 — every remaining class — to just reach 75%.
How many classes can you miss?
Maximum absences allowed per 100 scheduled classes at common attendance thresholds.
| Required attendance | Max absences (per 100) | Must attend |
|---|---|---|
| 75% | 25 classes | 75 classes |
| 80% | 20 classes | 80 classes |
| 85% | 15 classes | 85 classes |
| 90% | 10 classes | 90 classes |
Scale to your own course: in a 40-class term at 75%, you can miss 40 × 0.25 = 10 classes.
